About   Angyl

I am a person that values the finer things in life. One of my favourite combos are strawberries and dark chocolate, I love being near the ocean even though I’m not a strong swimmer.. yet, and I am the type of person that speaks my mind too easily.

My tattoo journey started in my humble home of Auckland, New Zealand.

My educational background has always been on the creative side. Before starting my tattoo career I was on the path of being a 3D animator with several years of drawing and painting background. Long story short; some plans aren’t meant to be and instead of making movies I decided to scar people for life.

After some struggling time being a self taught tattoo scratcher I went to seek an apprenticeship, managed to land one under Joe Brown at Nesian tattoos.

Learnt from the Polynesian master in the ways of tribal art, flow, culture and traditions.

Quite some time after, fate told me to leave the little ol land of the long white cloud to pursue a calling of living abroad. I wanted to grow out of only doing cultural tribal tattoos and instead do the styles that were more relative to me, creatively and of interest - in this case it was oriental, irezumi and anime pieces that I loved.

Not too far from my loved ones back in Aotearoa the decision to move to Australia was an easy one.

There were some troubles once I moved to Melbourne, though that did not deter me from my decision to stay and make something of myself. It took a while but I finally got back on track thanks to the Black Blossom team.

Since then I have become more private due to locality of my personal life but still connected to the team.

I am on a journey to develop my style of tattooing to incorporate my tribal roots (black work and flow) and Japanese inspired art (what I have come to enjoy most) My style focus is to achieve art that flatters form and flows on any body shape that will have the wearer be confident in one’s own skin.

I have aspirations to travel abroad while creating art, seeing sights and meeting people to inspire me.
